Professor Shi has been practicing psychiatry for 37 years. His primary research interests entail the diagnosis, treatment techniques and pathogenesis of depression, anxiety disorder and schizophrenia. As the associate group lead of Chinese Classification of Mental Disorders (CCMD-3), he has conducted a long-term follow-up study on Schizo-Affective Disorder, a study on comorbid depression and anxiety, an international collaborative study on female unipolar depression (converge study), a series of study on the influencing factors of postpartum depression, and efficacy of group psychological intervention for pregnant women.
He has published 144 research papers, 58 reviews, 17 books as the editor-in-chief or associate editor-in-chief and contributed to 22 books as part of the editorial board.
