School of Mental Health
The School of Mental Health, Wenzhou Medical University is the first mental health school in Zhejiang Province. Founded in March 2016, the school was jointly founded by Wenzhou Medical University and Wenzhou Kangning Hospital Group.

School Overview

The School of Mental Health of Wenzhou Medical University (http://jsyx.wmu.edu.cn/) is the first school of mental health in Zhejiang Province. Founded in March 2016, the school was jointly founded by Wenzhou Medical University and Wenzhou Kangning Hospital Group. The school has built a complete system of undergraduate-graduate “5+3” full-time master’s program. Through a seamless connection between industry (hospital) and sector (health sector), a school-industry and community development “union” has been formed. Another part of the union includes “Yida Mental Health” brand, an effort to explore a “School in Enterprise & Enterprise in School” service model. The school’s vision is “To create the most professional, top- or close to top-tier psychiatric program in China; to train professional psychotherapists and psychiatrists for China; and to be a national leader in the areas of psychology and psychiatry talents training, scientific research and psychosocial services in China!

3. Integration of industry and education - joint base for clinical training

To build a training and teaching base for mental health that strives to be a leader in the province and one of the best in China. Its goal is to build a series of nationally-accredited platforms including a center of clinical specialty, a center for clinical teaching as well as a training base for teaching and practice.

Driven by job competence development, the school strives to build a holistic, sustaining and advanced practicing and teaching system, making it possible to form future platforms including training bases for specialty development, internships and social practice.

4. Integration of industry and education - specialized talent development

The school seeks to actively explore the specialized training plan featuring "industry-education integration, school-enterprise partnership, practice focus, and collaborative talent development” . It also strives to develop a talent training model in mental health where enterprise, school and government come together (united efforts in program development, course-teaching, faculty training, clinical teaching bases, and talent development)

 

Faculty and Teaching

The school has a young teaching and research team with advanced education degrees. There are 60 full-time faculty members, and of the 60, over 60% with the senior level professional titles

In terms of teaching methods, the faculty team strives to provide rich learning experience for students through multi-dimensional teaching innovations.

Academic Research

The School has hosted and participated in more than 20 provincial-level and ministerial-level projects including National Key Technology Research and Development Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, the 863 program or State High-Tech Development Plan, the National and Provincial Natural Science and Social Science Funds, the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine Projects, and the Provincial Department of Science and Technology Projects, with a longitudinal expenditure of more than 6 million yuan. The School has published more than 300 papers (including 30 SCI and SSCI papers), and more than 20 books and textbooks. It also has won more than 20 awards, including Zhejiang Higher Education Science and Technology Achievement Award, Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Award for Medicine and Healthcare, and Wenzhou Municipal Science and Technology Achievement Award.

The School has also hosted many international and national academic conferences, including the Annual Conference for China Association of Higher Education—Medical Psychology Branch, and Kangning International Forum on Psychiatry. The School sends out many teachers on national and international academic visits and exchanges. The school has also carried out academic exchanges and research collaborations with international scientific research and academic institutions, including University at Albany, SUNY, Chatham University, and Chung Shan Medical University.
